| One afternoon I walked up to the lighthouse that overlooks Bolinas Bay. As I sketched it, two seagulls flew by shimmering in the sunlight. My brother, Rich, had said to me years ago that I was his "lighthouse" growing up. At the time, he was living on the edge and exploring his limits. I believe we are called to be lighthouses for each other, and we take turns as the beacon of light. Maybe when we feel confused, abandoned, or have lost our grounding, someone who loves us becomes our lighthouse, guiding us through stormy seas to safety beyond. |
